Adelanto boy dies in accidental shooting at home, officials say

A 7-year-old boy died Thursday apparently from an accidental shooting in his Adelanto home, sheriff's officials said.

Authorities received a 911 call from a family member at 4:54 p.m.  reporting an accidental shooting in the home, on the 18000 block of Bellflower Street.

An ambulance and sheriff's deputy arrived and tried to save the boy, identified as Daniel Cervantes. Daniel was taken to Victor Valley Global Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 6 p.m.

The family is cooperating with investigators, officials said.
