Jury finds Disney discriminated against security guard
A jury has found that Walt Disney World discriminated against a security guard there, although she will not receive monetary damages.
The jury ruled Friday evening that Disney discriminated against Camelia Joseph by denying her opportunities for a promotion. A black Haitian woman, Joseph says in her lawsuit she applied for a job in 2010 as an emergency coordinator but the position went to a white man with less experience and education.
"We have a longstanding policy against workplace discrimination and believe none occurred here," Disney spokeswoman Jacquee Wahler said in an emailed statement. "We are pleased the jury awarded no damages."
